Russell Schweickart, a former Apollo 9 astronaut, compared the asteroid threat to that of space debris hitting the International Space Station, which he said is “small enough that we can move it out of the way.”

that’s such a brilliantly simple solution, i’m surprised i haven’t heard it before. much better than nuking the thing, which on the scale of armageddon would transfer a single massive impact into a cloud of buckshot.
