this is the 1984 version from playworld. um, crap. wow, this is exactly the wrong time to find this set in good condition on ebay for under $30.

i remembered the space-van and the mini-shuttle that’s not in this auction. i knew there were other vehicles, but had forgotten specifically about the yellow utility car and the radar / missile buggy. that accounts for five out of the 01-06 set. i can’t remember what the sixth was.

this is also missing the big satellite dish that plugged on top of the tower, and the green chairs that went in the command center. and i think there was an alien?

aha! that was the sixth; the spaceman spiff-esque flying saucer with fold-down tripod legs. oh god, that’s suddenly all i want in the world. stupid nostalgia.

totally loaded with features. the land vehicles could park in the driveway under the catwalk. turn the crank on the ground and the elevator elevates. turn the crank on the roof and the dome turret pod and the main satellite dish rotate. the vehicles all had moving bits. wicked cool set.

if the new one is half as good then i think i’ll have to get myself one for christmas.
