it’s been kind of surreal watching people’s varying reactions to michael jackson’s passing. my own reaction was that if you wanted to mourn him, we had plenty of opportunity over the last 15ish years. as has been stated elsewhere, he stopped being the michael jackson of our youths a long long time ago.
what i hadn’t quite realized, until i saw the depth of the response...

ryan: (something about feminism)
sean: did you say communism or feminism?
ryan: commufeminism? femicommunism.
sean: ... famicommunism. nintendo for everyone.
ryan: that is correct.

harry potter and the half blood prince looks fucking sweet. that’s going to have the good visuals and good plot ala star trek, compared to good visuals and ‘this doesn’t make a lick of sense’ for transformers and 2012.

– io9 doesn’t quite understand the largely irrelevant plot of the transformers sequel. i mean, who the fuck cares? autobots and decepticons, they fight, the autobots win. whatever, it’s not that hard. there are decepticons the size of office towers this time. it’s awesome.
quick notes
revenge of the fallen - ending is kind of abrupt, but there’s so much good stuff who cares. totally sweet. jetfire is the breakout character, much as frenzy was the breakout of the first movie. bumblebee is still rad, optimus gets to prove that ‘prime’ isn’t a nickname, and there’s just a whole lot going on that’s good.
also, optimus tearing off starscreams...

lost my job, going for unemployment, looking for work, moving back in with my parents, paying off my credit card, going back to school, starting some webcomics, and wishing i had bought tickets to the winter olympics in vancouver like two years ago when i originally had that idea. lesson[s] learned?

marvel is pumping half their books up to $3.99 with like cardstock covers (sometimes! sometimes not.) and maybe extra-nice image comics grade paper for your 22 pages of story? so fuck those jerks. i love marvel comics, and i swear to god, if they were $1.50 or $2 i’d buy most of what marvel publishes every month. instead i’m picking and choosing and that conflicts with...
one moment
i’ve still getting caught up on the last three months of comics that i’ve been ignoring because i’ve been* dead broke, so all i can say for certain is that marvel is destroying the ultimate universe, and relaunching it later this summer as like ‘ultimate comics’, which is stupid and wierd. so instead of being a marvel imprint like epic or max, it’s becoming a...
